Former title contender Thiago Santos will try to get closer to another shot at being the UFC light heavyweight champion when he takes on rising star Magomed Ankalaev on Saturday.

Santos: Bouncing back from multiple injuries
The Brazilian is still trying to get back to championship form after challenging Jon Jones for the light heavyweight title in 2019. That bout, which he lost via split decision, cost him a lot physically- tearing various ligaments and suffering a cracked tibia.
The 38-year-old is 1-2 since he returned to action. Santos’ last fight was in October, when he won over Johnny Walker via unanimous decision. He has a 22-9 record.
Ankalaev: Rising UFC star
Meanwhile, Ankalaev is on a red-hot seven-fight winning streak. He is currently ranked sixth in the division, and is trying to close in on his own shot at the title.
The Russian last fought in October against Volkan Oezdemir, winning by unanimous decision. The 29-year-old is favored to win the match.
