The Brazilian will defend his light heavyweight title against the European fighter in the main event after the McGregor vs Chandler clash cancelation.

Only a few days ago, everybody was waiting to see the return of Conor McGregor to the octagon to take on Michael Chandler in what was considered one of the best fights in 2024.

However, the Irishman’s injury made UFC boss Dana White change his plans and booked another massive fight by setting a rematch between the two- divisions’ champ Alex Pereira and the dangerous Jiri Prochazka with only 20 days’ notice.

Poatan, a former middleweight champion, will put his light heavyweight belt on the line when he takes on the Czech warrior, an opponent he already defeated in November 2023 at UFC 295, when the Brazilian came out on top by TKO in the second round.

Now, Prochazka is looking for revenge and becoming the UFC champion. After losing to Pereira, the 31-year-old defeated Aleksandr Rakic in his last fight by technical knockout. Pereira’s last fight was against Jamahal Hill, who lost by KO in the first round.
