Tuesday’s Champions League Best Bets
Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbooks
Galatasaray (+550) vs. Bayern Munich (-225), DRAW (+425) | 3.5 (-105/-120)
Two of the eight matches today get underway at 12:45 p.m. ET, and they include Galatasaray hosting Bayern, and Inter taking on RB Salzburg. I’ll focus on the former, a tie that kicks off from RAMS Park in Istanbul, TR.
The oddsmakers are expecting a ton of scoring action in this one, and I cannot disagree. Both of these squads possess insane offensive prowess, so I’ll go ahead and lock in the over. The hosts are currently 8-1-0 on the domestic front, and they’ve scored 18 goals, making them the second-best offense out of the gate. As for Bayern, they’re 6-2-0 in the Bundesliga, and have 26 goals, making them the top offense in Germany.
The scoring has carried over to the Champions League as the duo have combined for 11 goals over their matches thus far. In terms of expected goals, the German powerhouse has posted a number of 3.0 while the Turkish club sits at 3.6. Neither club has been able to settle in on the defensive end either, with Bayern having an xGA number of 2.5 while Galatasaray is at 2.9. Ultimately, it’s hard for me to think of a path where both of these teams don’t score at least once, let alone potentially finding the back of the net multiple times. Let’s sit back and watch these two great offenses go to work €“ give me the over.
Bet: Over 3.5 (-105)
Lens (+155) vs. Eindhoven (+180), DRAW (+250) | 2.5 (-145/+120)
One of the underrated matchups on today’s schedule features a battle between Lens and Eindhoven. The France-Netherlands crossover is so interesting solely based on the Group B table. Lens leads the way at 2-0-0 while Arsenal (1-0-1), Sevilla (0-2-0), and PSV Eindhoven (0-1-1) fall into place after. This match is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. ET from Stade Félix Bollaert-Delélis in Lens, FR.
While things have been going well in international play, you cannot say the same for Lens in terms of their Ligue 1 efforts. The French club is just 2-3-4 domestically, which is good enough for 15th in the table. They’ve managed to score just eight goals while allowing 13.
I hate to play the "they’re due" card, but I can’t see PSV going winless on the UCL front this campaign. The Dutch club is on fire domestically, sitting at 9-0-0 with a +27 goal differential. Their high-powered offense has seen them out-score opponents 19-4 over their last six matches. In terms of xG in Champions League play so far, Eindhoven has posted a mark of 3.1. In my opinion, I can easily see Boeren (the Farmers) taking care of business on the road. Let’s play them on the moneyline with a sizable +180 payout.
Bet: PSV Eindhoven Moneyline (+180)
Sevilla (+390) vs. Arsenal (-140), DRAW (+290) | 2.5 (-130/+105)
The other big-time Group B showdown features a clash between Sevilla and Arsenal. The Gunners are coming off of a 2-2 draw with Chelsea over the weekend, and they’ll look to climb up the UCL table as they head to Spain this afternoon. This contest is slated for 3:00 p.m. ET from Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán in Sevilla, ES
The Spanish side is simply not in the best form right now as they’re winless over their last four matches. They’ve been a "draw machine," going 2-3-4 in La Liga while going 0-2-0 in the Champions League this campaign.
This will be their toughest test yet against a well-rounded Arsenal club, so I’ll back the Gunners on the moneyline. Arsenal has been the top offense in Group B, well, at least according to the expected goals. They boast an xG of 3.8 through two matches while their xGA is just 1.3. As for Sevilla, they’ve posted numbers of 2.1 and 3.9, respectively. The bottom line here is that I still fully expect Arsenal to advance (-650) out of Group B, and I, like the books, still fancy them to win the group (-150). Mikel Arteta’s men should control possession in this game and ultimately come away with three points in this spot.
Bet: Arsenal Moneyline (-140)
